THE HALVA PAGE
HALVA (Helva, Helvai, Halvah) is a sweet made of sesame seeds
and sugar.
It is a commercial product, and can be bought at shops selling Turkish,
Israeli,arab,Greek etc. foods.
It is a solid mass, can be cut with a knife, but crumbles. It is very
sweet and oily, but tastes great.
It comes in a few variations: Vanilla, cacao, pecans etc.
The recipe for making Halva is not known to me. Many years of search
in cookbooks,
and on the Internet have not produced any results.
To my knowledge there is no published information on the process of
making Halva.
It contains Sugar, Tahin (a paste made of Sesame seeds) and a few unknown
other ingredients.
It does not (to my knowledge) contain flour or butter.
If anybody knows how to make it, or where information can be found
about it, please email to [email protected].
I will publish anyrelevant information on this page.
